We went to St George at the end of February, just after Jack's birthday.
We stayed in a condo which had a couple of pools, including a nicely heated indoor one, which was one of the favorite parts of the whole trip. At one point Lily choked and barfed in it and they had to shut it down, interrupting another family's extended family party. Oops, soooooorry.
Hannah and her kids and my parents went down the day before us, so when we got there we had a second birthday party with the family. We ate pizza, played the lego games again, which were just as fun, and ate more cake in our hotel room.
The kids stayed up late both nights. Here they are watching a movie on the iPad.
The next morning we went to breakfast, it was fantastic and fun, especially since breakfast foods are the Burrough family favorite.
We went to Snow Canyon, which was beautiful. First we played in some sand dunes, perfect for little kids.
And perfect for Jare-Bear poses.
Then we went for a hike, called Jenny's canyon. It was also perfect for little kids. A lot of beauty, holes in rocks, stuff to climb, little slot canyon with very little effort.
We had a picnic lunch in the park under a big rock mountain. I love letting the kids wander and explore. Look closely at this one, that's Jack on the tip top.
At one point Annie disappeared on the top of this mountain and I started to get concerned. I walked to the top and was calling to her, but couldn't see her anywhere. Finally, this is what I saw:
Do you see her little head poking out of the crack? It was just the right size so that she couldn't climb out, but was having a fun time just playing in the sand at the bottom. It was adorable. Then this happened after she got out, and was triumphant:
At the end of lunch, Junie decided she was tired, and had a lie down on the rock.
That evening we made a big thing about going to a really fun restaurant, but it was going to be a surprise. We had planned on going to Pirate Island (a pirate themed pizza place/arcade) because the one in Orem had burned down a few years ago and the kids have been sad ever since. They're always asking when it will be open again. So we went. We drove into the parking lot and the kids freaked out. Then we realized it was shut down, too. Whaaaaaa whaaaaa..... The kids were bummed, but it was kind of hilarious. So instead we got thai take-out and a red box. On the way home, just as the sun was setting, we went to Pioneer Park.
It is a beautiful park overlooking the city and has big, awesome rocks to climb, holes to hide in, etc. It was fantastic and fun because it was getting dark.
When we woke up the third day, it was really cold and rainy. We had planned on going to Zions (I know, Jared teases me for saying Zions rather than Zion, but I don't care, that's what the locals say, right?) but it was too cold and we were all too tired, so we headed home. It snowed quite a bit on the way home and June finally fell asleep.
I wish it could have lasted longer, but it was a really great trip. We all can't wait to do it again.
