We love our stinkin' chickens so much. They've been outlaw chickens ever since moving to Springville until just recently when the city finally legalized them. The day that the new ordinance was approved, we decided we needed some new chickens.
They are so fun to play with. Here they are with Codi, the little girl next door.
Here they are at about 4 weeks old.
We got an Australorp, which is a slender, all black chicken which we named "Lil' Chirp";
a Barred Rock, which has a really pretty black and white pattern, named "Lil' Peep";
a White Brahma, which is a big fat white one, named "Crystal";
and what was supposed to be a white Plymouth Rock but ended up being some kind of brown mystery chicken, named "Muffin".
Here are our old "fat ladies" having a dirt bath. The big black and white Americauna, "Leafy" went to go live on another farm because she was picking on my favorite, "Peppa".
Jack's favorite is Muffin.
Junie likes them too. It's funny, they're not threatened by the baby at all. They just peck around her like she's one of them.
In winter we sprouted some seeds for them. They were pretty happy to have some greens.
Jared helped the kids make new chicken feeders. He also made them a swing and a covered sand/dirt bath in their run.
We sure do love our chickies.
